Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period like this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
