Shock as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.
The reason of the incident has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Police indicated that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a location close to the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the property overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, as per local media.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement stated.
Security camera video reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a guard's attire shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.

"We know they covered significant ground after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to find their location," stated a police chief.

"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were willing to discuss. This is a profound tragedy."
