The fighter smiles as he directs the video equipment on his person and his fellow militiamen, their Rapid Support Forces insignia visible: "These people will all die in this manner."

These individuals are celebrating a massacre that relief organizations suspect resulted in the deaths of over thousands of civilians in the Sudanese metropolis of al-Fashir during October.

An Urban Center Cut Off from the World

Following their control of the community under blockade for approximately two years, from August the paramilitary force advanced to consolidate its control and restrict the surviving civilian population.

Posts presenting its militiamen providing aid to inhabitants were disseminated by several individuals, while the force's communications team released several recordings allegedly to show the proper treatment of government detainees.

In spite of the digital initiative being employed by the RSF, their conduct in el-Fasher have generated worldwide outrage.
