Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
