Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing violence and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' format by introducing a fresh location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the essence of society through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared bold, visionary style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
