HBO's It Spinoff Releases Second Early on the Streaming Platform

Audiences are thrilled for the chilling show It: Welcome to Derry, which is receiving positive feedback and weaving in themes from additional King stories. Now, the broadcaster has revealed that episode two will arrive early, released fittingly for Halloween.

Premiere Shift Information

Kicking off on October 31 at 12 a.m. Pacific Time, the next part of It: Welcome to Derry will premiere on HBO's online platform, before its linear broadcast. The remaining installments of the eight-episode season will continue to air on the weekend on both HBO and its streaming arm, leading up to the season finale on Sunday, December 14.

Show Background

Based in the world of King's It, It: Welcome to Derry is inspired by King’s iconic novel while building upon the setting realized by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in It and It Chapter Two. The original It focused on adolescents battling supernatural evils, so it’s fitting that the series continues that tradition. However, the premiere episode of the streaming show shows it set out to increase the tension, providing heightened horror than Muschietti’s films and establishing a brutal tone for what's to come.

Story World and Concepts

Located in the early '60s, the program features a fresh cast of parents and youngsters residing in a seemingly idyllic town concealing a sinister core. The town functions through a brutal, periodic loop—characterized by violence, bigotry, and the supernatural, as a monstrous presence reappears every 27 years. Although the series might sound like it strays too near to the films initially, what sets apart the digital program is its two-sided viewpoint—unfolding through the perspectives of kids and grown-ups concurrently. Younger characters stay especially susceptible to It's terror, but grown-ups aren’t spared dealing with their own nightmares born from local discrimination and hidden paranormal elements.

Episode 2 airs on Halloween at midnight PT.
