Fans looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait much longer. An free-to-play demo version will become available on Jan. 7, granting a generous look into the game's opening hours. Importantly, all save data earned within this demo will be able to be imported directly into the main game upon its eventual debut.

This project represents a ground-up re-envisioning of the iconic year 2000 role-playing game, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant step away from recent series re-releases, such as the previously released HD-2D versions, this version embraces a unique three-dimensional visual presentation. Environments are designed to evoke detailed dioramas, with protagonists having a delightful toy-like design.

"Taking into account the previous port, the narrative was still notoriously long. Therefore, we came to a decision that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an experience for contemporary audiences."

Significant Mechanical Enhancements & Modernizations

The creators have introduced numerous modernizations to streamline the original gameplay loop. This encompasses:

• Expedited Overworld Encounters: Similar to modern RPGs, weaker monsters can now be defeated directly on the overworld map eliminating the need for initiating a separate traditional battle screen.
• Adjustable Combat Pace: Gamers have the option to speed up battle sequences to rapidly get past simpler encounters.
• Expanded Vocation System: One completely new job class has been created for this remake. Furthermore, party members now have the capacity to master a secondary vocation, greatly enhancing strategic depth.
